Welcome to Chivas: The Mindful Goat!

What is mindful living? It is about being conscious of the effects of your actions on those around you, the environment, and, yes, even your own being. We make so many choices each and every day that at times it seems overwhelming to try to be mindful of them all. If you really start to think about it, you might drive yourself insane. For example, if you worried so much about your carbon footprint, you might never leave your house. So, don't panic!

I hope to touch on all sorts of helpful topics in this blog - from natural skin care to fair trade principals, from herb gardens to non-GMO foods. Just take each one topic at a time, with a little breath of fresh air, and we can all make big changes, small steps at a time.

My small step this week: Stop picking my nails. This may sound like a trivial matter but I know that this bad habit is caused by anxiety. My Plan: Each time I start to pick, STOP, take a deep breath instead, close my eyes and think of something I have done well today. This small step just might start to "pick" away at my stress.
